About the RSPCA

The RSPCA was founded in 1824, and every day of every year since then we have worked to end cruelty towards and mistreatment of animals.

Our staff, volunteers and our unique team of inspectors all work to create a better world for all of us - animals and people. We will continue to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals for as long as we are needed.

Animal welfare is at the top of our agenda. We make decisions based on sound science. We work closely with the public, through our network of branches where we offer advice and a wide range of animal support services including subsidised veterinary care. We aim to educate children and adults too on animal welfare issues, and campaign at every level of government on animal welfare issues. We work internationally to promote the human treatment of animals overseas.
